Service Disruption Discussion - Updated 11-04-2009 | 3:30 PM PST

[ Edited ]

Update: 11/04/2009 3:30 PM PST:

On Tuesday, some T-Mobile customers may have experienced service disruptions impacting voice and messaging services.  We restored full service to all affected customers later in the day.   After investigating the cause, we have determined that a backend system software error had generated abnormal congestion on the network.  T-Mobile has since implemented additional measures to help prevent this from happening in the future.  We again apologize to those customers who were affected and may have been inconvenienced.

UPDATE 11/04/2009  9:15 AM PST:

T-Mobile confirms it has fully restored voice and text/picture messaging services for customers affected by intermittent service disruptions on Tuesday.  About five percent of our customers across various geographies were affected for much of Tuesday evening, and by late Tuesday PST their service was restored.  Our sole focus has been restoring full services for all customers; we are now investigating the root cause of the incident.  We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused our customers.

If you continue to experience difficulty making/receiving calls or accessing data services, please power your phone off then back on. This will update your connection to the network and should restore your access to these services.

Re: Service disruption

This is just lovely. I know every one is going to start with the comments on how we shouldn't whine because this never happens. Well, having just purchased a new phone because of multiple Sidekick issues, I feel we have the right to complain about this crap.

Very very frustrated right now, T-mobile.

Re: Service disruption

So... Why is this happening?  I'd actually like a more detailed message...

Way to go T-Mobile...

Re: Service disruption

I have to disagree somewhat with people saying that we don't have the right to complain.  Some of us rely on our phone for business or a sole means of communication.  I cannot afford a house phone and a mobile.  I had to go with what seemed to make sense.  You may think everyone has a bag of money to get whatever they need, but it is not the case.

Also this is not the only time there has been an outage in the past 8 years.  There have been several just this year in my area.  This is also not the only time in the past month.

People can complain if they get frustrated not being able to use something they paid for.

Re: Service disruption

I have to agree with monnietron on this. I had a Sidekick. This is really bad for TMobile. I'm not saying I'm jumping ship but I know people will. This does suck.

Right now they are more worried about getting things working than a detailed message.  They let us know...details come later when they have all the info and can for sure state what the problem is.  Do state any sooner would be foolish.

Re: lost customer

While T-mobile has been reliable in the past their service has degraded in the last few months beginning with the Sidekick outage. They didn't respond well to that, and now we have this problem. I expect my phone service, that I have to pay a late fee if i don't pay my bill on time, to be reliable and not suffer a national outage. It could be understandable if it was regional, but not the ENTIRE network.

I will be switching to AT&Ts prepaid service. You have lost a once loyal customer.

I understand what you are saying but TMobile did not handle that issue well when it came to the customer.

Re: lost customer

As a previous customer I don't recommend AT&T Wireless.
