So let me tell you all about my experience with T-Mobile.
I had verizon prepaid, I swapped my service over last year in december, I got a family plan (under contract) with 2 lines on it, they switched me and my girlfriend's phone numbers over to t-mobile... well.. they were supposed to.. Something messed up on t-mobile's end and it took over 2 weeks to get my phone numbers switched over. Once it did, the brand new phone I had broke, Immediately, the speaker quick working in it (samsung t-429), after charging me 10 dollars to ship it, they sent me a new phone (keep in mind I didn't drop my phone, I had it in a protective case, and I kept it absolutely damage free), my phone worked fine, but then 2 days later, my girlfriend's phone (same phone model) broke and the keypad didn't work, she had taken perfect care of hers also, so another 10 dollars to get another phone for her shipped to us. I had a problem with the voice mail features on our phone, they didn't work at all. I called t-mobile several times and they said it worked even though it didn't and just brushed the issue aside. Recently I've had problems with my phone also, the fav 5 feature quit working a month and a half ago, and for almost 2 months, my icons said "updating" but never updated, and wouldn't allow me to change any of them. After calling t-mobile about that issue for the 10th time in 2 months, and the voicemail, I finally got them to fix the fav 5 feature and the voicemail, They said no one ever activated my mailboxes at t-mobile... Now the text messaging features do not work on my phone after they fixed that, I have unlimited text, yet I can receive text from friends but not send them.. it just says "Retry?" whenever I attempt to, they told me to power cycle the phones (which I did) and it still does not work. So I asked them about upgrading to unlimited family plan, in which they told me "you're under contract with us, and you can't break it, so we can't swap you over without charging you the fees to activate new service.... btw, we no longer do the favorite 5 feature, it's been discontinued".
So now, I'm stuck with 2 phones, that can't text, under a crappy contract I can't break, the worst part of all, is when I called earlier they told me to power cycle, then said "go visit the t-mobile store" so I did, the t-mobile store in opry mills mall. The lady working (named arielle) was very sarcastic, rude, and seemed like she didn't even care about her job. I however, while dealing with her, or any other person, remain calm, polite, and never rude... I am angry that t-mobile has treated me very badly since we've been with them, and that the service has been awful, but I don't take it out on anyone and I always maintain my composure. She told me that she didn't know why they had sent me to the store, there is nothing they can do about it, and then called customer support from their phone and put me on the phone with them, in which customer support just told me to power cycle my phone... I asked about swapping to another package and I've been told 3 different things by 3 different t-mobile people. No one at t-mobile is helpful, the 2 day "software error" that caused the recent outage went completely unaswered and t-mobile did nothing to make it up to their customers. I've had problems with other companies in the past, small problems, here and there, and they always got fixed... with tmobile, I've had nothing but problems, and very few of them actually get fixed (i'm actually leaving out a couple of other problems with t-mobile to keep this post as short as I can).
To be honest, I'm stuck in a contract that sucks (I pay $120 every month for 2 phone lines with 400 minutes and unlimited text) my text doesn't work, and verizon offers 1400 minutes and unlimited text for the same exact price (for 2 phone lines), my phones suck, the service sucks, and the customer support is horrible, and after the in store employee acted like that towards me, I am seriously just appalled that this company is still around.
The guy at verizon pointed out that since t-mobile's recent switch (new plans, getting rid of fav 5, etc) it violates their own contractual agreement with the customer allowing them to leave WITHOUT paying the fee for breaking contract, I don't know how valid what he said is, but I plan on researching it, and getting new service from someone else. T-mobile treats it's customers horribly, they're irresponsible, and they don't value their customers at all. I plan on getting new service from another company as quickly as I possibly can. This is absolutely unacceptable.
I've read other posts on here with people that have had the same problems, and even worse problems. They've been treated horribly by customer support, and I honestly don't understand how a company can be ran like this.
I am very unhappy with my t-mobile phone, service, and the support customer service offers. This company does not value their customers. T-mobile has made NO effort what-so-ever to remedy this or even help me swap over to one of their new packages without paying an outrageous fee. I am going to switch as quickly as I can, for all of you having serious problems with t-mobile like this, I would encourage you to do the same.

The fees aren't really that bad for switching over. If you are saving 30 or 40 a month you make up that cost in 2 months or so. As far as the new plans "violating T-Mobiles Terms" I wouldn't give that much thought considering a Verizon salesman told you this. I believe the way it works is if you were already under contract prior to switching to the new plans you would still have the same contract you agreed to. However after it expired you would never have to extend your contract again. If you activated on the new plans you wouldn't have a contract in the first place. Hope your service starts workign better!
