No Data Service? Stuck on two dots? No G? Lost contacts? - The Epic Data Disruption Thread

[ Edited ]

My LX 2009 is stuck on two dots.  It's been this way since at least 4am this morning.  I've tried toggling Airplane Mode on & off to restart the wireless, making a call to voicemail to see if it would go back to G after hanging up, and restarting the device.  I've also tried these things in two different locations about 4 miles apart which would be different towers so I assume it's not a single tower problem.  I can't report an outage at SignalStrength.org because the LX 2009 doesn't seem to have a way to look up the network details including cell tower info, like the previous Sidekicks could.

So, anyone else having a similar problem?

Re: Stuck on two dots

I'm having the same problem, I'm in Long Island, Nassau NY. It's pretty frustrating because this happens every so often. I also had a issue where things I had that should've been backed up on the server never came back to my phone after a reset.

Mine is doing the same exact thing and it's still like that. I don't know what's going on but I can not stand it anymore.

My Sidekick is doing that too and I am starting to get upset about it.  I am in Florida.

Re: Stuck on two dots

This needs to get fixed. I want to use the internet on my phone and I can't. When someone texts me I do not get an alert and their name does not show up. During my lunch break I am going to call and find out what is going on. This is ridiculous!

Re: Stuck on two dots

My Sidekick is the same way since last night and I am in Houston.  I called T-Mobile and was on hold for about 30 minutes and when the technician came on the line she told me that T-Mobile is having network problems for all Sidekicks.  She said they are working on the issue but could not give me a timeframe of when they expect the problem to be fixed.  It is very annoying because I pulled the battery out to see if it would help and I lost all of my contacts until the network is back up and running so I can't even call anyone because I don't know phone numbers by memory.  :smileysad:

Re: Stuck on two dots

I live in the North Houston area and this problem cam accross me around 5 am when I woke up this morning. I, at first, turned my phone off and on two times. No luck. I then took the battery in and out once. Still no luck. When I turned my phone back on, I lost my phone contacts, web bookmarks, calender events, email, phone text messages, picture messages, the MyFaves app, IM functionality, and a whole lot more. A few minutes later, I came to my senses and figured that its maybe just a nearby tower that is down since there had been a huge rainstorm that same night. So I turned my phone off, left it off for about 5 hours. I then turned it back on and made my way towards downtown. Since signal there is generally stronger, I thought I'd get the results I needed. Sadly, I didn't. This is an issue that I cannot withstand. T-Mobile needs to work with a little bit more priority to get those data towers up and running again. I need to access my emails, web browser, and contacts for the most part. Heck, if this issue extends over the weekend, I better recieve an credit towards my phone bill from T-Mobile or better yet, send me a new phone.

A Sidekick is useless when all you can do is talk, text, and play games.

Re: Stuck on two dots

I'm also having the same issues (since about 8:45 am), also turned phone on and off and took out battery.  Sadly, since I have no contacts and don't know any of the numbers I can't even make calls and text.  I am hoping that things get back to normal soon or I also will be calling requesting a credit of some sort.

Re: Stuck on two dots

For those of you who may not know this, if you only have two dots that means no data connection, so don't take out your battery because if you do so and lose all your contacts, emails, notes, calendar items, etc., the data won't come back until the connection is restored.

Re: Stuck on two dots

A little late for me to know not to take the battery out. Lol. But I was a bit worried about permanently losing all of my data. Esp. my contacts and email.

Re: Stuck on two dots

Same problem here.  I put my SIM card in a BB8900 and freaked out when I couldn't connect to a network, so I went through the motions of trying to reboot it, and suddenly my contacts are gone.  I only have 1 number out of 183 memorized, so it's really screwing me up.  Email is all gone, too.  This needs fixed immediately.  Especially if it seems to be affecting every Sidekick.

Re: Stuck on two dots

Yeah, I'm having the same problems as well! For everyone on here, it would be a good idea to report at SignalStrength.org. For Sidekick LX-older model:Menu>Settings>Network Status>Menu+m, that should display your Current Cell Tower, right above Bit Error Rate.

Re: Stuck on two dots

Hello,  I just got the sidekick lx 2009 yesterday and enjoyed it until the outage today.  Being new to sidekick, I was wondering if this is something that happens frequently because this sucks and cripples the phone making it worthless.

So how many times has this happened to you sidekick users?
