Recently customers using iPhones on T-mobile have been experiencing an error when receiving MMS, saying: "The media content was not included due to a picture resolution or message size restriction.".
To resolve this issue, you first need to ensure that your iPhone is using the new updated MMS and internet settings:
Go to Settings, General, Network. Ensure Enable 3g is off, and Data Roaming is on.
Then go to Cellular Data Network.
The Cellular Data Network APN should be set to: epc.tmobile.com
The MMS APN should also be: epc.tmobile.com
The MMSC should be: mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
And the MMS Proxy should be blank.
These are the new standard settings for iPhone internet and MMS and can be entered with no risk of locking the phone.
If updating the settings on the phone does not resolve the issue, you may need to try the following solution. However, this solution involves installing a third party program from Cydia, and has the potential to re-lock the iPhone to AT&T, or cause other unforeseen problems. Therefore T-Mobile cannot assume any responsibility for any problems that may arise from trying this temporary fix.
For this fix, your phone must be connected to the internet, either through T-Mobile, or wifi.
From the main screen, open the Cydia application. If it asks "Who are you?", select 'User'.
If the phone fails to connect to the Cydia server, wait a few hours and try it again.
If any updates are brought to your attention, make sure to select 'Ignore'.
After the phone connects to Cydia, select the Search option at the bottom, and search for: Legacy
This search should return 2 results. Select the first option (T-Mobile US Post-Paid) and then select install.
After this program is installed, you must restart the iPhone, and then the MMS should work properly.
Again, this is a temporary fix, and does not ALWAYS resolve the issue. Also, as mentioned before, if this causes ANY issues on your phone, T-Mobile cannot assume responsibility. Cydia IS a third party application and is not affiliated with T-Mobile in any way.
T-Mobile is working on a permanent solution to this MMS issue, and we would appreciate feedback on any alternate solutions that are discovered.

Whenever I add the new MMSC to my iPhone it kills the WIFI on it and there is no re-enabling it. Anyone else had this happen? The wap.voicestream.com settings do not do the same.

Per http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/Non-T-Mobile-Phones/
MMS APN is: wap.voicestream.com
MMSC is: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy is: 216.155.165.50:8080
These settings worked on my factory unlocked 3GS on 3.1.3.
