I am in Nashville, TN 37103 suburbs (Antioch).
I get ONLY E (Edge) at home. Thank goodness for WiFi !!!
Riding to the store today it turned to G then at the store it turned to 3G, but it went back to E when I entered the store ("telling" me that the service is weakly 3G where I am, which is disappointing as it would imply that even after the possible OTA patch by HTC (if it happens) - I will still be not in a Deep Red coverage area (even though I can prove that the coverage map is in fact Deep Red, but it is on the Border of a Lake (where coverage drops to none at all). Additionally, I get 2 bars (of Edge) on average, sometimes more, occasionally ZERO . The 3G bars at the store was 1 bar. So, I may have to return the phone even if the OTA is successful. I hope not, I LOVE the phone and the inexpensive T Mob plan (compared to the competition!) So, maybe I can convince T Mob Support to send a Technician out to my neighborhood and get a booster? Yeah, that's the ticket!
I know Nashville is a Hick Town, but come on! Really?

2 locations, same town, same zip, about 2 miles apart:
* Jefferson City MO 65109 Location 1
* 5 bars of stable 3G on my Nexus One
* 5 bars of stable 3G on my G1
* Works fine at that location...
* Jefferson City MO 65109 Location 2 (about 2 miles from location 1)
* 1 bar of 3G fluctuating to 5 bars of Edge fluctuating to no service and frequent data dropouts/problems on my Nexus One
* a couple of bars of stable 3G on my G1 - no fluctuations or loss of data
* Using AnyCut to force WCDMA only just made it fluctuate between 1 bar of 3G and no service, but data was no more reliable than when set to the default "prefer WCDMA" setting

-Erie, CO 80516 (I'm just northeast of the town center on a hill)
-The performance is highly variable: anywhere between 0-4 bars of 3G and 4 bars of EDGE on the second floor of my house vs the first floor where it's 0 bars of 3G down to 3-4 bars of EDGE. Regardless of the 3G reception indicated by the bars, I rarely see speeds in excess of 600k downstream and maybe 475k upstream on UMTS. When I do connect to the HSDPA network, which is rare, my speeds max out at around 1Mbps down but my upstream, averaging 350k, is less than what I see on UMTS. I think the speeds are worthy of note because I've seen others speak of 4Mbps downstream and if T-Mobile's self analysis of their coverage is to be believed, I should be near the top of what their service can provide.
Per T-Mobile's coverage map, I'm in an area covered by the darkest green shade indicating my location is optimal. Further, my area is supposedly blanketed in 3G service. Once I leave my home and until I reach 287, 3 miles west, I'm unable to get any 3G reception.
- I do not have another device that I can use to test the situation further.
- I noticed that when the phone is lying on a table it gets better reception than when I'm holding it. To clarify, I'm holding the phone along the edges, not flat in my hand. I know that the instructions advise against touching the lower portion of the phone.

No 3G in Manassas, VA 20110 on the Nexus One. Map indicates there should be coverage. I do not own any other T-Mobile devices.
