Our company is getting ready to release our vidcam applications for Android and we are looking for some last minute feedback from anyone who is interested.

We have a demo video over at www.totalcontrolapp.com. Just click products and go to the Android Video Camera Edition section. It currently supports 15+ manufacturers and over 150 models of ip cameras and video encoders (for people who have analog cameras or dvr's).

We're looking for feedback on the UI mostly at this point. We would also like to know if the UI is intuitive to use and understand just from watching the video.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Robert,

We'll be happy to give the app a spin and give feedback,a s we do review android apps. The video was difficult to see the icon image to give good analysis on UI. I did notice when flipping from Portrait to Landscape from button were removed, unsure why and if they're needed.

The idea sounds awesome. Send me a PM for further analysis or check me out on my site.

the apps will be paid.  the pricing is the same as what is on the E-Store now at the website for Blackberry.  In fact all of the cellular interfaces will have the same pricing.  we have Blackberry as well as Iphone-Itouch released and Winmo is coming around the same time as Android.

different versions have different pricing although the pricing is the same across all interfaces so just click the purchase section at the top of the website and look in the store at the Blackberry pricing for now.

ya know i'm getting older and with that it's becoming harder to decipher things down to what they really mean.... so can anyone explain in simple terms what this is and how to use it??

it seems cool if i'm deciphering it correctly. to me it means you can set up cameras at wherever you want (i guess) and then view that video feed from your phone.

if this is correct, do you use a webcam (or can you) to capture the video that will the be viewed on the phone??

any help is appreciated!!

what it is: it is an application to view ip cameras or dvr/analog cameras (via video encoders) on your Android device.  it supports a direct connection between your android device and the camera/encoder.  there is a big red link on the android vidcam section of the website called 'compatibility list click here'.  if you click the link it will open a page with the compatible manufacturers/models as well as what codecs/functions are supported.  currently there are no webcams on the list.  if you have one and want to give us remote access to test against it we will be more than happy to see if we can support it.  what is an ip camera?  just go to amazon.com and search 'ip camera' and watch what comes up.  We recommmend Axis, Vivotek, Sony, Toshiba, Mobotix, and Panaonic as the best supported for this application.  again read through the compatibility list or call/email us with any direct questions.

how to use it:  there is a big youtube video at the bottom of the Android vidcam section www.totalcontrolapp.com which shows you how to use it.  basically you add in your make/model of camera along with connection info (ip address, port, username, password) and from there you can select your camera(s) from a list and view/control the live video feed right on your Android device.  The video walks you through the whole setup.  if you have specific questions just use the form under the Contact Us section of the website or give us a call.  we can walk you through everything over the phone as well as answer any questions.

i have an imac can i view that webcam? and i am using the stock isight

currently we do not have support for any webcams.  if you have one you want to add please use the form under the Contact Us section of www.totalcontrolapp.com to give us remote connection information to test against.  from there we should be able to tell you if we can add support for it.

We added a public camera section to the website under Contact Us for people who want to try but don't have a camera or want to see what it might be like.  So now all you need is an Android device and download the demo to try the application.  Just use the information from the public cameras to try out the application.

ok so we are seeing major amounts of demo downloads but no one is giving feedback.  i mean now that we have the public camera section anyone with an android device can test the app for free and give us feedback.  let's here from some of the people who tried the demo.  thanks.

i'm not sure if i read correctly But i think i seen a dvr device.. so can i view recordings from my caBle Box or shows that are on my caBLe Box? if not that would Be a Good suGGestion!

security dvr for video surveillance.  we would like to add support for home tv dvr.  it may be coming sooner rather than later but probably from the Carriers/Cable Companies.

Also please note for demo testers. you need to click the download link within your EMAIL on your g1.  do not try to download to pc or install any other way or it won't work.

Also, it seems some people have problems opening the link in the chrome browser.  if that is the case then try the steel browser.

looks like the issue might actually be a bug from cellular downloads.  it has been noted with the carrier.  in the meantime use wifi for downloading the demo/app.
