I have a CLIQ, and I saw that the update to 1.3.18 was ready for my phone. It was a magical moment, knowing that my CLIQ was going to be better than ever - until the update finished and I saw that my phone now thought it was 6pm on 31 December 1969. "No Problem!" I thought, as I navigated through the menus to reset the time. But when I input the correct date and time, the phone never changed. It was curious, so I rebooted and tried the same thing - with no luck.
So I popped on over to T-Mobile's support site where I chatted for well over an hour with a rep, who walked me through the same steps, had me pull my battery and SIM, and eventually hard-reset my phone. This would have been all fine and good except that now I have a hard-reset phone that thinks it is 31 December 1969 at 6pm and MOTOBLUR refuses to allow me to log in and actually use my phone. I type in my credentials, and I get "Error Signing Into account: There is a problem with the clock on the device. Please contact customer service"
T-mo is sending me a replacement - in 7 days (Which, frankly, is unacceptable). But I'm stuck with a phone that powers on just fine but is unusable because MOTOBLUR won't let me get to the homescreen. Before I hard reset (at the direction of the T-mo rep), I could still make/receive calls and SMS messages, and get email and all that good stuff.
Why am I being forced to wait a week to get a working phone? Sure, if it was my mistake I'd understand - but making me pay (It was an option for faster shipping - I asked) to correct T-mobile's error seems wrong. I'm now without a phone for a week. A week, mind you, that I am still paying my full bill (I asked about that too - and was told no). I've been really happy with T-mo's customer service right up until now.

Right after the 1.3.18 update was installed, and completely finished on my phone I started noticing a change on my messages.
The time is 2:25, and I receive a text message. This text message has the time stamp of 2:30, while all my sent text messages seem to have the right time stamp.
How do I fix this annoying problem?
And could it be that it came from this 1.3.18 update, because before this my text message time stamps were doing just fine.
Thanks.

I updated my Cliq also and I have the exact same problems. I can't download any apps from the market. The time and date on my device says its 7pm on Dec. 31 1969. I hope they get this issue resolved soon! This is my only phone.

Sorry to hear about your issues. I had a CLIQ that was a couple of weeks old and had some major issues with switching from landscape to portrait mode. When I clicked on email it would automatically go into landscape mode.. but upside down. In other words the top of the screen was facing down towards where the slider moves up. Not good. Anyway, they exchanged the devise for me without any cost. No complaints from me. I have also been with T-Mobile for many years so that may have helped with the level of servcie I received. Now, what I did notice when the new CLIQ arrived yesterday was that it was a completely new devise. And, their were some physical changes vs. the one I had purchased just a couple of weeks earlier. The serial # was a higher and newer # as well which indicates a later build. When I opened the back of the phone the rubber flip-up holders for the SIM card and Micro-SD were orange vs. black as the original one had. Also, the speaker was set-up a bit differently. The build of the unit was much better then my original as well. So I think that Motorola has made some changes to the devise in the very recent past. Also, I noticed right off the bat that the devise reacted much faster when I touched an icon or got into an application. That was after I downloaded all my contacts (785 of them) and my MS Office Calander. So it was pretty well loaded up. Then I did the update and it is working perfectly in all respects. I know waiting a week is not the greatest... but if you, like me, receive a newer devise with the hardware updates, then it is worth it. My T-Mobile CS Rep also told me that they have had very few of these returned (and those that were got sent directly back to Motorola for examination) so were basically only able to send out brand new units... no refurbs. I was very concerned about that. All I can say is that mine is not a refurb in any way shape or form. Best of luck.....

I spoke with a CS rep who basically told me the only thing that can be done to fix my issue (text messaging app freezing) is just do a master reset of the phone. So if I wipe EVERYTHING out, I won't have any problems, yay, awesome. Before I even consider doing that, does anyone know if doing a master reset will remove apps from your phone? I assume it will wipe contacts/accounts but you can get that back after setting everything back up. I'm sure text messages will be gone, as will call history. Any info will be appreciated.
Dont master reset just yet. Try using handcentsms first. I use that application for my text messaging and have no issues with it. Plus it's alot nicer than the default one

+1 on the handcent and having no issues with it.
Also, to answer your other question about the apps....... just go back into your market and go under "My downloads" and your apps should be there. Just to be on the safe side though, if you ever do need to master reset, write down the apps and developer first on a piece of paper. Just in case.
The last Master Reset I did, I lost the apps somehow also and had to remember which ones i had.
