I just got my blackberry yesterday. it isn't letting me use internet with wifi. it keeps giving me an error message. i can't download any apps or ringtones until i can connect. it says it's connected to wifi, but it won't let me do anything with it! help me please, i'm begging.

WiFi will only allow you to browse the internet. It won't allow you to connect to IM, Email, GPS, or download anything from T-zones.

If you want to be able to do everything, you must subscribe to the Blackberry Data plan.

It won't let me browse either.

Are you sure you are connected to a wifi source?

And have all the appropriate settings correct?

Go to your connection settings by clicking  "Manage Connections"

Scroll down to "Services Status"

And tell me what it says.

Then Go back, and click "WiFi Connections"

Again tell me what it says.

While in WiFi Connections, Click Menu, Wifi Tools then diasnostic.

Tell me what this info says.

Then again go back and click "Mobile Network Options"

And tell me what it says.

This will help me better troubleshoot the issue.

Once in "Mobile Network Options" 

Make sure you turn data services off, as it will conflict with the Wi-Fi connection.

You can also check to ensure you are using the correct browser by opening the BROWSER, then Select the Menu key, In the Menu select OPTIONS, in Options select GENERAL PROPERTIES, in General Properties make sure the DEFAULT BROWSER is set to HOTSPOT BROWSER, if not make sure to change it over

Did you use the disc that comes with the phone? I have found that almost all of the issues I had when I first got my phone were resolved once I did that. Also, you don't have to have the WiFi on to connect to the internet. I only use it occasionally, because it uses more battery than not.

nevermind, i have a sidekick plan. so the tmobile guy said i can't use internet. i paid $400 for the phone, the salesguy said i could browse the internet. turns out i can't on a blackberry. they lied and ripped me off
