To enable the display to auto-rotate & enable animated screen transitions follow the steps below (This option is off by default and must be enabled before it will function):
NOTE: To use this feature on your G1, you must first ensure your device is running the latest software. This is a new feature included in "Android 1.5 with Cupcake" and is not available on previous software versions. To check your software version, click here.
1. From the home screen, hit the menu button and tap settings.
2. Then scroll to and tap Sound & Display.
3. Then tap to check Orientation to enable auto-rotate, or tap Animation to enable screen transition animations. You may enable either one or both, or neither depending on your preference.
Once you have these set to your liking, press the back button below your screen to exit back to the home screen.
