Hey all,
Looks like an update to the Andoid Market is coming on the 20th. I'm not aware of the changes exactly, but it will require that you re-download any applications you may have downloaded before that point. Remember, the applications are free for the time being so there's no risk of being charged for the downloads. I just wanted you to be aware.

I have a question.
When you say "the applications are free for the time being"... do you mean that we can download ALL apps. for free now, but once the Android Market is updated to allow developers to charge, then the apps we currently have (or some of them) may no longer work and require payment, or are all programs currently on Android Market free now, and will forever remain free?
Hope my question is clear... just wondering.
Thanks!

Don't quote me at 100% for this but the apps are free for the first 90 days after launch, meaning if you downloaded it now then its in there for you forever for free. It's like a virtual launch party. Newer versions, newer apps, etc that come out after that date may or may not be charged.
I would look to the linux model on this. There are a lot of programs that are free for linux or have a "community" version but then there is also a paid support model or pro version too.

Ok, so it looks like the update (or some of it) has happened. Alot of my apps that I DL'd prior to last night are still on the phone and still functioning. I have downloaded the new Myspace Mobile app as well as Imeem and i'm extremely impressed with the functionability of both of these. However there are quite a few less apps than there was before the "update", after reviewing the developer community forum looks like there's alot more coming they just haven't completely finished updating the market. All i'm saying is if they delete my pac-man they better give it back,

As people start receiving their pre-ordered T-Mobile G1 phones, they are going to be very disappointed to find that the 50+ applications that were reported in the Android Market have now been striped down to only 13. Many of the top applications that have been reviewed already will not be there.
